Twitter is a phenomenal place to learn about visual design. Two recent Tweets lead me to Shorpy Historical Photo Archive and 50 Inspirational Typographic Poster Designs. I poured over the images on these websites for hours upon hours, so I thought it was time to share.
On the first page alone, Shorpy has gorgeous, high resolution images from the docks of Savannah as well as from sea and bus ports in New York City circa 1905. Shorpy boasts, “Always Something Interesting.” I’ve sifted through dozens of pages, and I can independently confirm that yes, the tagline is true.
Tweeted by my personal hero Nancy Duarte, 50 Inspirational Typographic Poster Designs is interesting because of the novelty of most of these ideas. My favorite can be seen below.
