I hadn’t heard of Story Wars until I watched Nancy Duarte’s interview with the book’s author, Jonah Sachs.  The complete title of the book reveals a bit more about Sachs’ intentions; it’s called Winning the Story Wars: Why Those Who Tell (and Live) the Best Stories Will Rule the Future.

Storytelling is essential to the success of our ideas.  As we know from listening to the greatest speakers in the world, story helps us understand and retain a message.  Story is a great branding tool.  It’s important that when designing visual presentation, the slides tell a story.  Communication with other people – no matter the medium – requires a bit of story and, as Sachs points out, whether or not that story is successful often determines whether your communication lives or dies.  Why?  Sachs says story helps with the “buy in and the connection” (Source).  Though the book was written specifically for marketers, I think it can be used in any profession.  I am adding this one to my must-read list!

Have you read Story Wars yet?  What did you think of the book?
