In class last month, we tried a design “test” after discussing the picture superiority effect and the three-second rule of glance media. I gave my students a death-by-bulletpoint slide and told them to redesign or revise the slide to be truly visual: embodying all of the qualities of an effective slide.
Here is the original “before” slide:
