Inspiration: Amy Purdy on Living Beyond Limits

Amy Purdy delivered a powerful speech at TEDxOrange Coast.  Purdy is a professional snowboarder… who lost both legs below the knee.

My class is studying Aristotle’s modes of persuasion, and Purdy is such a beautiful example of pathos and ethos.  She cries during her speech but balances those tears with humor.  She uses repetition to emphasize her message.  Purdy says that our obstacles can only “stop us in our tracks” or “force us to get creative” (Source).

This speech is the definition of inspiration.  I hope you take as much from it as I did.
